Frequently Asked Questions
Here's a list of the most common questions our guests have. If you have a specific question not addressed here, please email us at info@urbanhearth.net and we will answer as soon as possible.
Can you accommodate my dietary restrictions?
We can accommodate most common dietary restrictions for our a la carte menu, including gluten free/celiac, shellfish free, dairy free, nut free, vegetarian and vegan diets. We do ask that you provide your dietary restrictions in the notes for your booking or reach out to us via phone or email ahead of your visit, which allows our chef team enough notice to accommodate your diet. Not all dietary needs can be accommodated without advanced notice.
For Chef's Counter, we can accommodate most dietary restrictions, however this menu is designed to highlight unique, rare ingredients sourced locally in New England, so if you are not an adventurous eater, we strongly advise sticking to our a la carte menu. Note: We currently cannot accommodate vegan diets for chef's counter.
Where should we park?
Metered on-street parking can usually be found along Mass Ave. There is also a pay-and-go parking lot located on Day Street about 2 blocks down from Urban Hearth across from Flatbread Pizza. Do not park in the 7-11 parking lot, despite our (regrettably misleading) sign on the side of the building, they will tow you.
Should we bring our kids to Urban Hearth?
We do not offer a kids menu. Well behaved kids are welcome, but keep in mind our dining room is one, single, lovely little room with an open kitchen. If you know your kiddo will enjoy that experience and that everyone around your kiddo will also enjoy the experience of having your kiddo in the restaurant, then we ask that you use your best judgement. Seasonal patio dining is a great option for small kids. Though we have hosted one 10 year old with a very sophisticated pallet before, we do not advise bringing children to the Chef's Counter Experience.
Does Urban Hearth have a dress code?
We don't have a specific dress code, but we like to think that visiting our restaurant is akin to attending an intimate dinner party with good friends, so we suggest dressing for the occasion. Ultimately wear what makes you feel the most comfortable and at your best. No judgement!
Is Urban Hearth wheelchair accessible?
We have a ground floor ADA compliant entry with an opening mechanism for easy access, however our ancient Cambridge restroom is too small to accommodate most wheelchairs so we asked that guests keep that in mind when planning their visit. Please let us know in advance if you require a wheelchair accessible table.
Why doesn't Urban Hearth have a Michelin Star?
The short answer is that Michelin doesn't come to MA... yet. The long answer might be better explained by this article by Erica Adams on Eater.
