Urban Hearth is seeking a dedicated and passionate Daytime Prep Cook to join our culinary team.
Known for innovative, thoughtfully crafted farm-to-table cuisine and exceptional hospitality, Urban Hearth was recently included in the 2026 Michelin Guide and is owned and led by James Beard–nominated chef Erin Miller. Our intimate 24-seat restaurant in North Cambridge is home to a dynamic, collaborative kitchen team driven by craft, curiosity, and respect for the farms, fisheries, and landscapes that inspire our globally influenced, hyper-seasonal menus.

The Daytime Prep Cook plays a vital role in our culinary operations—supporting menu production, maintaining kitchen excellence, and contributing to the creative, detail-driven work that defines our food. This position is ideal for a cook who takes pride in their craft, thrives in a small team environment, and is eager to grow in a kitchen where mentorship, creativity, and high standards guide every decision.

Daily Prep & Production

Execute daily prep lists efficiently, accurately, and with pride in craftsmanship.

Follow established recipes and techniques, scaling and adjusting as needed while maintaining consistent quality.

Produce mise en place for dinner service, tasting menus, and special events.

Maintain organization, cleanliness, and impeccable food safety standards across prep and storage areas.

Assist with fabrication, sauces, stocks, doughs, vegetables, pantry items, and seasonal preservation projects.

Demonstrate precision, consistency, and attention to detail across every task—from knife cuts to labeling to batch production.

Qualifications:

Culinary degree or minimum 2 years of relevant kitchen experience, preferably in fine dining or scratch kitchens.

The Concierge serves as the primary ambassador of hospitality, responsible for delivering an elevated, seamless guest experience from the moment of inquiry through the conclusion of each visit. This role blends high-touch guest relations, reservation and event coordination, and personalized service, ensuring every guest receives exceptional care befitting a Michelin Guide recommended establishment.
Key Responsibilities:
Guest Experience & Hospitality

Provide a warm, gracious welcome to all guests, maintaining a polished and refined demeanor.

Build personalized guest relationships, remembering preferences, special occasions, and service nuances.

Manage all guest inquiries via phone, email, and in person, ensuring prompt, accurate, and thoughtful communication.

Anticipate guest needs and proactively offer recommendations, accommodations, and tailored hospitality.

Ensure VIP and returning guests receive elevated attention with discreet, seamless service.
Reservations & Scheduling

Oversee reservations through our system, optimizing dining room flow and guest satisfaction.

Coordinate special requests, large parties, tasting menus, and experiential dining moments.

Maintain accurate notes on guest preferences, dietary needs, and celebration details.
Service Coordination & Team Support

Collaborate with the management team, front-of-house team, and culinary team to ensure a synchronized service experience.

Provide briefing notes to front and back of house teams about guest preferences and special occasions.

Support service teams during peak times with professional, hands-on assistance.
Administrative & Operational Duties

Manage guest correspondence, private dining inquiries, and event bookings.

Maintain lobby and entrance ambiance consistent with the brand’s luxury standards.

Track and report guest feedback trends, identifying opportunities for enhanced service.

Uphold brand standards, service protocols, and fine dining etiquette.
Qualifications

Minimum 2–3 years of experience in fine dining, luxury hospitality, concierge, or guest relations roles.

Exceptional communication, poise, and interpersonal skills.

Strong organizational abilities with meticulous attention to detail.

Ability to remain composed under pressure while juggling multiple priorities.

Proficient in modern reservation and CRM systems.

Flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
